Entries

How does my dog enter?
We’re assuming your dog has neither opposable thumbs nor access to the internet, so you’ll have to act as your dog’s artist management to get their best pose to us. Don’t worry, it’s as easy as sit, stay, smile.

They’ll need to get their pet parent (that’s you) to take a show-stopping photo or video of them, showing off their best angles and portrait-worthy poses.
Upload the photo or video to social media, along with a caption telling us why they should be turned into a work of art. Make sure to tag us @ButternutBox and use the hashtag #DogsDeserveFame so we can see it.
Finally, submit your photo or video to www.dogsdeservefame.com. You’ll need to paste the link to your social post into the form, along with your name and email address to complete the full entry.

What should my entry post include?
Whatever your heart desires. We love to see entries that show off their personality and make us smile. Think MODEL. Think MUSE. This is their time to shine.

Do I have to be a Butternut Box customer to enter?
No. We're open to entries from all dogs, everywhere.

Can I enter more than one dog?
Yes, if they feature together in the same photo, so they can be captured in the same portrait if they win.

Can I enter if I won last year?
Whilst we commend your ambition - afraid not, no. We'd like to give other dogs their moment in the spotlight.

Can I enter if I entered last year?
Yes. As long as you weren't chosen as a previous winner, we'd love to see your entry this year.

What am I entering to win?

The portrait prize package includes:

Initial sketches with the artist (in person or over video call).
An invitation to our Dogs Deserve Fame Winners’ Exhibition to see their final portraits unveiled. We’ll also cover your travel and a night’s stay to London.
The final portrait will be yours to keep and take home, ready to take pride of place.

How will the winners be picked?

Each and every entry will be reviewed by our team, and five winners will be selected. As always with Dogs Deserve Fame, there’s no strict criteria for winning - every dog is different, and we want to celebrate all things weird and wonderful about them, whatever that may be. Did it make us smile? Are they a very good boy or girl? Anyone can be a winner.

When will the winners be announced?

The competition end at midnight on 20th November and we will email the winners by the 25th November to let them know if fame awaits.

What's happened to the billboards/shoots/adverts?

Our annual Dogs Deserve Fame competition is all about just that - making dogs famous. In previous years, we’ve focussed on making them famous in our adverts. But this year, we wanted to step out of the Butternut bubble and look beyond our own billboards and buses. We wanted to make something for our winners that would stand the test of time. And portraits sure do that. Just ask Mona Lisa.

This year, we've gone all fancy. We want to make some good boys and girls the star of their very own, exclusively-commissioned portrait*.

Five winning dogs will be drawn, painted or sculpted by a professional artist, with the portraits unveiled at a star-studded gallery event.
